Setting up Access Credentials for External Systems

API Client

API Client accounts are used by external systems to access data within Tenjin. The permissions a client has is controlled by the Role an account is given. Unlike normal user accounts, API Clients have a Client ID and a Client Secret, which must be copied when the account is created because they will not be made available to view again.

Available Roles

To Add an API Client

  1. Click on Users from the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Click the API Client tab followed by the Add API Client button, on the upper right of the screen.
  3. Fill in the client's name and select the role from the list.
  4. Click OK to save.
  5. You MUST copy the details given in the API Client Details dialog.  Save each value to a secure location, each value can be copied by clicking the Copy to Clipboard icon at the end of each field.
  6.  Click OK to close the dialog.

To Edit an API Client Role

  1. Click the ellipsis (three dots) button at the end of the required API client row, followed by Edit Roles.
  2. Select or deselect the roles required, followed by OK.

To Delete an API Client

  1. Click the ellipsis (three dots) button at the end of the required API client row, followed by Delete.
  2. Click OK to confirm the deletion.
